The city of Toronto is home to many burger joints, but none as unique as Plan B Burgers. This restaurant is not only a burger spot, but it’s one of Toronto’s only restaurants where you can get authentic South African dishes.
You’ll find that many of the burgers have a “burg” at the end, playing on the cities that are in South Africa. The owners wanted to bring a taste of their home here to Toronto, and you can find dishes on the menu such as boerewors and braai, all halal.
All burgers are handmade in house, and have a flavor unlike any other with the signature PB sauce to top it all off. If you want to try something a little different, try your hand at the braai burger. It’s a coil of boerewors (a popular sausage which is a huge part of South African culture and cuisine) topped with the usual lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and the PB sauce.
If you want something different and are interested in getting into the South African cuisine in its true form, we recommend trying the one of the braai platters. You’ll be served up a variety of meats and a side of your choosing, all for $16. If you’re with a big group (6 people, recommended), why not go for the Ultimate Platter – $75 and you can try almost anything! The South African meats are grilled with the perfect char, making the flavors pop with every bite.
The inside of Plan B Burgers is clean and polished, with South African tunes playing throughout. It’s a great spot to grab a quick bite, or bring a family or group of friends. The menu has something for everyone – from beef, chicken, all the way to lamb and salads. The staff at Plan B Burgers are passionate and there to help you choose the best dish for your palette, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.
The Kingsway is lucky to be a home for so many cuisines from around the world, and Plan B Burgers really adds something special to the list. The food is unlike anything you’ll taste in Toronto, and we highly recommend you try it out!
